SOLD - Victorian 9ct Gold & Turquoise Fly, Insect Necklace


This fantastic antique fly pendant has been carefully crafted in 9ct rose gold with intricately carved details on the wings and head. Representing the torso is a vivid-blue cabochon turquoise gemstone displaying natural matrix patterns. Attached to a 42cm long 9ct rolo- link chain, this beautiful bug is designed to sit on the chest at an angle (see last image).

Most likely inspired by the Victorians' fascination with Ancient Egyptian symbolism and natural history. Flies were known to represent courage, protection and transformation.

MEASUREMENTS: Fly - 17 x 15mm with a depth of 4.3mm. Length of necklace - 16.5" (42cm)
