SOLD - Victorian 9ct Gold, Turquoise & Pearl 'Forget Me Not' Cluster Ring, Dated 1900
At the centre of this sweet, 'forget-me-not' ring is a tiny seed pearl surrounded by six natural turquoise cabochon stones which represent the petals. The flower is framed by ivy shoulders which are each studded with a further three seed pearls. The head of the ring measures 15mm across (including shoulders).
Hallmarked as follows: 9, 375 (denotes 9ct gold), an anchor (Birmingham assay mark), an A (date letter for 1900), along with the maker's initials (J.B.R).
During the Victorian age, the forget-me-not was widely used as a symbol of everlasting love and remembrance. This little flower was also used to adorn mourning pieces, the wearer promising to never forget their dearly departed.
