Antique, Victorian coral beaded necklace, with a row of hand cut beads, measuring around 4 - 4.5 mm, hand strung without a clasp.
The coral is a lovely deep salmon red colour, you can see the natural grain in the close up images

Romans adorned their Children in Coral to protect them from harm. Historically Coral has been a popular choice for Christening presents (early 17th century portraits of children are shown wearing a simple row of coral beads). Coral remained popular throughout the Victorian and Edwardian periods.
