SOLD - Late Georgian 15ct Gold Diamond, Pearl and Bristol blue Glass Lace Pin/Brooch
A gorgeous, rare Georgian brooch featuring a 22 x 20mm blue glass panel mounted in 15ct rose gold and framed by a border of creamy seed pearls in a crimped setting. At the centre of the panel is a charming silver thistle and floral motif which has been adorned with tiny, rose-cut diamonds.
At the back of the brooch is a transparent hinged panel that opens to reveal a vacant section that could be filled with a photo or keepsake. Complete with a t-bar and c-clasp fitting.
Popular during the Georgian era, this style of brooch drew inspiration from the night sky. The Bristol blue glass symbolises the deep evening sky, while the sparkling diamonds represent twinkling stars.
This one-of-a-kind piece is in a fair condition, there are a few cracks to the glass panel (this is reflected in the price) however this does not detract from the brooch's durability and is not noticeable when worn.
