Stunning 18ct White Gold Amethyst & Diamond Ring, London 1975
A fabulous flower cluster ring featuring a large 23 x 1.5 mm amethyst gemstone, surrounded by twenty-eight x 2.2mm brilliant-cut diamonds mounted in an 18ct white gold setting.
The amethyst is a fine gemstone with a good saturation of colour, it is a gorgeous purple colour with subtle magenta-red hues, estimated carat weight: 34 carats. The diamonds each measure approx 2.2mm, they estimated as colour F/G, clarity VS1 and total carat weight of between 1:00 to 1.12cts.
This huge dress ring measures 28 x 23.2mm and sits 13,.5mm off the finger.
Amethyst is the traditional birthstone for February, it was favoured by Catherine the Great (Empress Catherine II of Russia, 1729–1796) and the famous jewellery connoisseur Wallis, Duchess of Windsor (1896–1986), who made a memorable statement when she wore a lavish Cartier-designed amethyst bib necklace to a gala in Versailles in 1953.
Amethyst is believed to give the wearer personal empowerment and inner strength.
