Victorian Jasperware Wedgwood & Pearl Brooch/Pendant
A stunning, Wedgwood indigo jasperware plaque with white relief depicting the scene of four putti leading a goat to sacrifice at a flaming altar. This famous scene is known as 'A Sacrifice to Hymen'. The oval Wedgwood panel measures 40 x 50mm and is marked 'Wedgwood' on the reverse. All beautifully mounted in a 9ct gold surround.
Attached to the top of the brooch are two pieces of pearl mounted chain which connect to loop. A chain can be threaded through enabling the brooch to also be worn as a pendant.
MEASUREMENTS: 40x50mm (from base of pendant to top of chain), the brooch without the chain measures 28x40mm. HALLMARKS: 9ct (denotes 9ct gold). CONDITION: Very good DATE: Victorian (1837-1901)
