Victorian 9ct Gold, Turquoise & Pearl Swallow stickpin

A sweet, antique stickpin featuring a swallow bird in flight, mounted with five, tiny seed pearls and three turquoise cabochons. The head of the pin measures 10.5 x 12mm.

This romantic pin may have been given to a loved one when departing for war (the swallow was the first bird seen near land and symbolised a safe journey home) the pearls resembling purity and chastity.

HALLMARKS: 9ct (denotes 9ct gold).
