A rare and beautifully crafted Georgian vinaigrette, this exceptional piece is modelled as a finely detailed greyhound’s head in rich gold, complete with expressive red eyes that add a vivid flash of colour and life. The sculptural quality of the design highlights the elegant features of the greyhound, a beloved symbol of loyalty, speed, and noble companionship in 19th-century jewellery and personal accessories.


The neck opens to reveal the original pierced grille, where scented sponge would once have been placed an exquisite reminder of the refined personal habits of the period. Every detail, from the smooth contours of the gold workmanship to the sharply defined canine features, showcases the skill of the Georgian artisan.  At the dog’s mouth sits a tiny tube possibly intended to hold a small piece of lead for a pencil adding a fascinating functional detail.
