Antique Victorian 15ct Gold & Amethyst Brooch
A captivating Victorian amethyst brooch, crafted in rich 15k gold and crowned with a luminous Rose de France amethyst.
The soft lilac gemstone, approximately 24 x 19 x 10mm and an estimated 26 carats, is gracefully cut in an oval and set within delicate clawwork, allowing light to shimmer through and enhance its gentle radiance. The warm gold setting beautifully complements the stone’s romantic, ethereal glow.
Gemstone Meaning:
Amethyst is celebrated for calm, clarity, and quiet strength, long regarded as a symbol of balance and protection. The delicate pale tones of the Rose de France amethyst lend a subtle, almost magical elegance to this piece.
Amethyst is the traditional birthstone for February.
Favoured by Catherine the Great (Empress Catherine II of Russia, 1729–1796) and the famous jewellery connoisseur Wallis, Duchess of Windsor (1896–1986), who made a memorable statement when she wore a lavish Cartier-designed amethyst bib necklace to a gala in Versailles in 1953.
Amethyst is believed to give the wearer personal empowerment and inner strength.
