Victorian Silver, Gold & Enamel Miniature Fox Portrait Brooch by WB Ford, 1887
A fantastic piece of history, this brooch features a portrait of a handsome red fox who has been meticulously hand-painted on a circular enamel plaque. The miniature has been crafted with an 18ct yellow gold frame and set into an open-backed solid silver mount. Complete with t-bar and c-clasp, with the addition of a silver fitted safety chain.
Hand signed on the reverse of the plaque is 'W B Ford 1887'.
William Bishop Ford (1832-1922) was born in London 3 May, 1832, the son of Michael and Agnes Ford.
He was a student of William Essex who was famous for his animal themed enamels.
This gorgeous brooch is in a good antique condition, there is a small chip to the enamel at the edge but this is not noticeable when worn.
