Mississippi Natural Pearl & 9ct gold pendant
A rare and romantic treasure from the heart of the Mississippi River, this antique natural pearl pendant, dating to c.1890-1900, is encased in a delicate 9k gold cage and glows with history, artistry, and quiet elegance.
Once treasured by Native Americans and coveted by European royalty, natural pearls from the rivers of America were among the most sought-after gems of their time. By the early 18th century, rich pearl beds in the Upper Mississippi River triggered a frenzy of harvesting, producing an array of uniquely shaped and iridescent pearls, many of which found their way into the sinuous, nature-inspired designs of the Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau movements.
This charming pendant dates from around 1890–1900 and features a natural Mississippi River pearl set within a hand-crafted 9ct rose gold cage.

We love...
The velvety glow of the natural pearl, its wild, organic form, and the lace-like delicacy of the gold work. It’s a true miniature heirloom, an echo of the river’s flowing beauty, captured in gold.
